It seems as though, to define something that represents something so pure would not do it justice. The spiritual seeker of truth knows that he is not his body, nor his mind, but the essence or “presence” within the form that is, the body. “But I AM the mind the thoughts, those are mine, I think them, that is who I am.” Is it?.. Can you not listen to yourself think? .. The true self is beyond thought. Beyond expression in external form, it is, and always will be. We cannot find it, because it is who we already are. We let our thoughts run our lives, but whose thoughts are they if we can hear them?
We move through what we call “life” in search of love, happiness, prosperity, sense of self, accomplishment, triumph. To, “be somebody” or be remembered. Sound familiar? The answer is always “out there”. Now. What is causing us to look elsewhere for these answers? Our thoughts. Yes that’s true, we do own our thoughts, but do we share them? Have you ever found yourself thinking almost uncontrollably? You are driving down the road to work and the car in front of you isn’t going as fast as you’d like them to. At times for some people cruel words pop into your head out of what would seem to be our brain. This person in front of you, is a human being. A life. A son, daughter, mother, father. Just as you are. We all have entered into this earth the same way. A child who is innocent and pure. Where did we go wrong? “I go to church every Sunday! I am not like the others, those sinners. I am a good person.” Does entering a building built by man really make you any more righteous than your neighbor? Your heart tells the true story, and whether you live by your heart, or your mind will show forth in your actions. Spiritually kind souls understand their actions, thus use their spirit for loving compassion.
We know the term Karma very well thanks to Eastern spiritual teachings and philosophy. Western civilization is now becoming aware of the power of intent and positive thinking. These are one in the same. Is it hard to believe that the majority of the worlds different religions were founded on the same principles? So why so many sects and labels? When man decides to step in for that which “is” and will always be, ego steps in for man. Therefore at times just let go and trust and watch your spirit be.
What is the ego? A pseudonym, “Edging God Out”, does it justice. The ego has been the speaker, thinker, listener, activator, and ruler for thousands of years. “The greatest lie the devil ever told, was convincing the world, he doesn’t exist.” In fact, our ego is so desperate to stay hidden that it created a form for itself. As long as the devil is “down there” or “in hell” I’m safe. The same goes for heaven, creator, who is omnipotent & transcendent, everywhere and nowhere, everything and nothing, all that ever was, and all that ever will be, does not reside elsewhere.
Yet we lead ourselves to believe that the thoughts we have, or the actions that follow those thoughts, as long as nobody sees or knows, then it’s ok, I’ll get away with it. Our ego will go so far as to cause us to believe what is, when in fact it is a complete lie. Think back throughout your life, is there any instance where you can remember telling a lie to a friend to help yourself look “cool, attractive, nice, loving, smart, strong, rich, powerful, etc.”? Or maybe you just were called one of the opposite, “loser, ugly, rude, hateful, dumb, weak, poor, forceful, etc.”.. what is the initial reaction? “Fight back! Don’t let them get away with that! I’m not that!”..
If you stop and just listen. Just be, for now. All the sudden, the emotions that were coursing through your body, have subsided. Feeling takes place. No thoughts or mindless ego chatter, you feel the energy of all that is you. When you become aware of your surroundings in this state of being, you become aware of the feelings of all around you as well. The desk under your hands, the tree outside the window, the bits of rock that make up the street as you see cars pass by. You can feel the JOY and pure LOVE that everything, is. This is spirituality. This is you. Spiritual soul
